02 · Remove & clean
Most of the mess is where you can't reach from the edge. We shut the system down safely and lift panels so we can clean the whole area.
The system is turned off before any panel moves.
We lift or remove the panels covering the nests.
Nesting material, droppings and feathers are bagged and removed.
The roof under the array is cleaned so it doesn't attract birds back.
03 · Repair
With the panels up, it's the right time to fix wiring and tiles before everything goes back down.
Damaged wires and connectors are repaired or replaced.
Loose wiring is secured off the roof surface.
Broken tiles under the array are swapped out.
Loose bolts and mounts are tightened.
04 · Seal
A mesh barrier is installed around the full perimeter of the array.
The guard clips to the panel frames, so we don't drill into your roof.
The mesh keeps birds out while still letting air move under the panels.
It sits neatly under the panel edge and is hard to see from the street.
05 · Test
Every panel goes back on and is secured.
We confirm the system is producing before we leave.

It isn't just a mess. Here's what pigeons cost you when they move in under a solar array.
Droppings are acidic. Over time they etch the glass and corrode wiring and connectors under the array.
Droppings on the glass block sunlight, and nests under the panels trap heat. Both lower your output.
Dry twigs, feathers and leaves packed around live wiring and junction boxes are a real ignition risk.
Pigeon droppings can carry histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and psittacosis. Cleanup needs proper protection.
Cooing and scratching start at dawn, and it gets worse once chicks hatch.

The space between the panel and the roof is shaded, sheltered from wind and rain, and hidden from predators. For pigeons especially, it's an ideal nesting spot, and they return to the same place year after year.
Yes. Droppings are acidic and will slowly etch the glass and corrode exposed wiring. They also block sunlight, so production drops even before physical damage sets in.
Fake owls, spikes and noise makers rarely work for long. As long as the nests and the gap under the array are there, the pigeons come back. The nests need to come out and the gap needs to be sealed.
It's a mesh barrier installed around the perimeter of your array. Done properly, it keeps birds out without drilling into your roof and without trapping heat under the panels.
Usually we lift or remove the panels over the nests. Most of the droppings and nesting material sit where you can't reach from the edge, and lifting the panels also lets us check the wiring underneath.
You can find kits online, but rooftop work, live wiring and warranty concerns make this a job better handled by a licensed solar contractor.
Dried pigeon droppings can carry diseases that spread through the dust. We wear protection and bag everything for disposal. We don't recommend homeowners do it without the right gear.
