The process

How a solar assessment works

We check, we explain, you decide. Here's what happens before, during and after your diagnostic visit.

  1. 1We check
  2. 2We explain
  3. 3You decide
  1. 01 · Before the visit

    Tell us what you're seeing

Bring what you have. It helps your tech get to the cause faster.

    • Monitoring app login

So we can see production history and whether the system is reporting.

    • Photos of any error codes

A picture of the inverter screen or app alert is a great starting point.

    • A few recent electric bills

Bills show what the system has been sending back to the grid.

    • Installer paperwork

Warranty info and system details, if you have them.

  2. 02 · Day of service

    What to expect

    • Arrival window

We give you a window for the day and let you know when your tech is on the way.

    • Access we need

The main electrical panel, the inverter and the roof if needed. Please unlock gates and keep pets inside.

    • Solar may go off for a bit

Your tech may shut the system down to test it safely, then turn it back on. If something is unsafe, we leave it off and explain why.

    • No sales pitch

We focus on the problem you called about and the work needed to fix it.

  3. 03 · The visit

    What we check

    • Inverter and monitoring

Error codes, fault history and whether the system is reporting.

    • Panels and mounting

Damage, shading, debris, critters and loose wiring.

    • Wiring and electrical

      Connections, breakers, disconnects and grounding.

    • Production

What the system makes compared with what it should.

  4. 04 · After the diagnosis

    What happens next

    • We explain what we found

What's working, what isn't, and why, in plain language.

    • Small fix? Often today

If it's a minor issue, your tech may be able to take care of it during the visit.

    • Bigger repair? We write it up

Larger work gets its own written recommendation, so you know exactly what's needed before you decide.

    • Pay over time if you need to

For a big repair or system change, you can finance through Wisetack. Subject to credit approval.

Assessment or inspection report?

Choose an assessment when your existing system is not working properly. If you are buying or selling a solar home and need a fuller account of the system's condition and value, ask about a Solar Inspection & Report. A SolarFIX Solar Assessment is $150.
